Work on the Land 2023

Started in December ‘22, we planted the first half of our Mid tier funded tree hedges in January, with the rest to do in Jan 2024. We also planted up our largest field Park, which is directly in front of the events barn, with Alder shelter-belts along the boundaries and splitting it into four sections on old field boundaries. With grant funding from the Penwith Landscape Partnership we also created a series of scrapes in one of the fields. Chris continued with some hedge restorations and we also carried on general work fixing up gateways and finishing off jobs from the last year! We also grew a trial crop of Pillas oats which was very successful. They are an ancient Cornish oat, grown as part of a trial for a PhD by Harriet Gendall for the first time in 150 years and we hope to grow more in the future!
