2022

In January 2022 we started our mid tier agreement and getting ready for the cows which were arriving in April. As part of the mid-tier capital grants you can be paid to help improve the land by installing fencing and water troughs and planting hedges etc. We are reinstating our original field boundaries with planted predominately Hawthorne tree hedges as well as fencing to protect them, alongside installing water troughs to make a more mob-grazed system easier. We are planning to plant the hedges in the winter 2022-23 and 2023-24 and so the first phase of the work was erecting the fencing and installing troughs in time for the arrival of the cows as well as planting a little wood as a future shelter belt and some new boundary hedges next to fallen down hedges that are uneconomical to repair.

Chris has also been restoring some of the hedges, also with mid tier funding, and has been doing a beautiful job.
